‘Justice prevails’ says police
A 20-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday morning in the Mokopane Regional Court for the rape of a 15-year-old girl on 27 July 2013.

MOKOPANE – The Police Spokesperson for Mokopane, Sgt Irene Masingi, told Bosveld: “The 15-year-old girl along with her friends were on their way home from the merry-go-round in town at around 03:50 am when they were approached by four armed men. The men threatened her friends with a knife while Julius Matjila dragged the victim into the nearby bushes and raped her.”
Masingi further said: “Thanks to the thorough investigation by Detective Constable, Matsobane Mogale, justice prevailed as the rapist, Matjila was sentenced to a life behind bars.”
