‘Modimolle situation still tense and volatile’, police

'The situation at Phagameng near Modimolle remains extremly tense.'

LIMPOPO – According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto the police are regularly firing rubber bullets and teargas into the crowds to disperse the protesters.

“A satellite building belonging to the municipality and three houses belonging to police officials have also been set alight says Otto.

“The extent of the damage is not yet known, but nor injuries were reported.”

Several others have been arrested following the arrest of 14 on Tuesday morning.

The amount of people that have been arrested so far can not yet be confirmed concludes Otto.
