CPF members expected to abide by code of conduct

When joining a community policing forum (CPF), it is important to understand that there is a specific code of conduct expected from all members

POLOKWANE – The Doornbult Soetdorings CPF recently chose new management, and all members agreed to abide by their new code of conduct, which was later adopted by the board of the Polokwane CPF.

CPFs are cross-cultural, diplomatic forums in which there is no place for party politics. The code is used as a guideline to uphold these values and have the CPF work and move forward as a unit to ensure success in the bringing together of communities and the police in the fight against crime.

The code assists to ensure members uphold a good relationship between themselves and all law enforcement agencies. Misuse and abuse of resources is unacceptable.

No drugs, alcohol or other illegal substances may be used when taking part in CPF activities.

Anyone from a CPF structure who wishes to join any other community safety structure or wants to become a informant should inform the CPF they belong to of their intention to do so.

The elected committee will provide feedback to the members about CPF activities, challenges and other occurrences during regular monthly CPF meetings.

In short, members of any CPF should at all times behave ethically and ensure there is no conflict of interest as a member, as this will not be tolerated.
