UPDATE: Security guard (35) shot in Ladine

According to a police source a security guard was shot at a factory in Ladine on Wednesday morning.

POLOKWANE – A 35-year-old security guard from Urban Africa Security was shot and killed when an unknown number of men broke into and stole unknown items from a business in Ladanna at 05:30 yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

It is alleged that Michael Mogashoa caught the suspects in the act and when he confronted them he was shot in the chest.

Mogashoa was certified dead by paramedics on the scene.

Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, said it is alleged that electric cables were stolen but investigations are underway to confirm whether there are other goods that were stolen from the premises. At the time of going to print Review was at the scene where the police investigation team was searching a veld nearby where suspected stolen cables were found.

“Two cases are being investigated, murder and armed robbery. No arrests have been made yet,” Mashiane said.

Mogashoa was part of the Urban Africa Security family since 2009.

Piet Viljoen, owner of Urban Africa Security said Mogashoa’s death is a great loss for the company.

“It is a very sad and emotional time for me. Michael was a good man. He was respectful, hardworking and good at his job. Michael was that kind of worker who would be an asset for any company he worked for.

“Not only was he a good employee, he was also a family man. We will miss him,” Viljoen said.


 

POLOKWANE –  According to a police source a security guard was shot at a factory in Ladine at about 05:00 on Wednesday morning.

The 35-year-old security guard was allegedly shot in the chest during a suspected business robbery.

He died on the scene.

Police are still on the scene and investigations continue.
