Meet Kego Maithufi, Review Printers new boss

After 36 years in the business Ben de Jager from Review Printers (not the newspaper) has decided to sell the business and move to the calmer waters of the sea.

POLOKWANE – After 36 years in the business Ben de Jager from Review Printers (not the newspaper) has decided to sell the business and move to the calmer waters of the sea.

“The Review newspaper was established by my cousin and at the beginning we only had two machines which we used to print the newspaper each week.

Later we started printing pamphlets and bought new machines. and I took over the printing. We started to do everyday printing and that was the beginning of the business,” says Ben.

“We decided to keep the name “Review” as we thought it would be good for both companies.”

Ben worked his last day yesterday and he wants to thank all his friends and clients for support over the years.

“On behalf of me and my wife, Coba, I wish everyone happiness and growth. There is a good future in Polokwane. I hand over now to a man who I know will be able to take this challenge further, Kego Maithufi.”

Kego Maithufi

Kego is married to Dineo and both of them are chartered accountants. Kego has held executive finance positions with various companies and his last position before going full time into business was finance director at Standard Bank Wealth, SA. He co-owns Orban Group with his wife, a business that offers graphic design, printing, branding and signage business.

“I think Kego is very well-suited to take this challenge. He is a good businessman and has knowledge of the industry. I am lucky and could not have hoped for someone better,” adds Ben.

The deal started last December and both De Jager and Maithufi say it was an extremely nice dealing and pleasant transaction. “I wish to say that Kego and Dineo can expect a lot of support from this area and the Limpopo Province.”

Maithufi reassures the clients nothing much will change as far as people and service is concerned. The same staff will stay on. “We will be looking for opportunities to grow and at providing our staff with an opportunity to grow and develop. Over and above printing we want to extend our service offerings and to become a one stop shop that is able to meet our clients’ design, printing, branding, signage and marketing needs. Furthermore, we want to capture the business that is leaving the province. Each printing, branding and marketing job that is done outside the province means one or more jobs lost to the people of Limpopo”.

Plans are already underway for corporate social investment. The business has recently made a commitment to sponsor the Certificates for the Teachers Awards, and have also been requested by one of the schools in Polokwane to supply them with a laptop and have agreed to assist.

Currently plans are underway for the launch of a university bursary fund to assist learners from families that cannot afford it. One of the qualifying criteria will be acceptance of the learner by one of the universities in Limpopo.

Maithufi says other potential social projects will be looked at going forward. “We want to be relevant as a business to our surrounding communities and to give back as much as possible, provided it remains affordable for the business.”

Ben has the final word, saying: “Review Printers are known for quality in print and excellence in service.”
