POLOKWANE – The minister for Basic Education, Angie Motshekga confirmed during a press briefing in Polokwane today that matric pupils may have to rewrite Life Sciences II after the paper was leaked.

The department, after receiving a tip-off, discovered the leak on Monday, the same day on which the paper was written.

The situation constitutes a compromise to the question paper, she said.

She said matrics at identified schools may be required to rewrite the paper. Alternatively pupils in the entire district or province may have to follow the same route.

This will depend on the scale of the leaked paper, she said, which can only be determined after the marking process, she said.

The perpetrators would be prosecuted for the leak, she said.
