The department of Labour has increased the minimum wage payable to domestic workers effective from 1 December 2015

NATIONAL – The department of Labour has increased the minimum wage payable to domestic workers effective from 1 December 2015 until 30 November 2016.

January 2015 domestic workers wages

Domestic workers who work 27 ordinary hours a week or more

(Area A) Wages increase to an hourly rate of R11.44 and a weekly rate of R514.82. The monthly wage is minimum of R2 230.70.

(Area B) Wages increase to an hourly rate of R10.23 and a weekly rate of R460.15. The monthly wage is minimum of R1 993.82.

Domestic workers who work less than 27 ordinary hours a week

(Area A) Wages increase to an Hourly rate of R13.39 and a weekly rate of R361.50. The monthly wage is minimum of R1566.35.

(Area B) Wages increase to an hourly rate of R12.07 and a weekly rate of R325.98. The monthly wage is minimum of R1 412.49.
