Lynx wrestlers dominate at SA championship

Seven members of Lynx Arm Wrestling Club competed and excelled at the recent South African Arm Wrestling Championships.

POLOKWANE – Seven members of Lynx Arm Wrestling Club competed and excelled at the recent South African Arm Wrestling Championships.

The championship was hosted by the Arm Victors Arm Wrestling Club in Mbombela at the Winkler Hotel in White River.

The first competition was the left hand competition, and the following arm wrestlers from Lynx did well:

• Hendrik Fourie took a first place in the Cadet (age 19 to 21) 90 kg plus category.

• Micheal du Toit took a second place in the senior under 70 kg category.

• Beyl du Bruyn took a second place in the senior under 80 kg category.

• Danie Fourie took a first place in the senior under 90 kg category and a second place in the under 110 kg category.

• In the 110 kg plus category Hendrik Fourie took a second place and Cobus Moolman took a fourth place.

The second competition was the right hand competition, and the following arm wrestlers from Lynx excelled:

• In the Cadets 90 kg plus category, Hendrik Fourie took a first place and Micheal du Toit came second.

• Beyl du Bruyn took a second place in the under 80 kg senior category.

• In the under 90 kg senior category, Danie Fourie took a first place and Rine Gouws came third.

• Danie Fourie took a second place in the under 110 kg senior category.

• In the 110 kg plus senior category Hendrik Fourie took a third place and Cubus Moolman came in fourth.

There was also a Best of the Best Competition were all of the categories were up against each other.

Danie Fourie proved to be the Best of the Best when he claimed the first place.

The wrestlers of Lynx are currently training for the World Arm Wrestling Championships which will be held in Bulgaria in September 2016.
