SACCAWU ends the 8-day strike

South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers Union (SACCAWU) members at Sun Meropa who were on an eight-day strike returned to work after Sun International and the union reached an agreement, which ended the strike and lifted the lockout last Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers Union (SACCAWU) members at Sun Meropa who were on an eight-day strike returned to work after Sun International and the union reached an agreement, which ended the strike and lifted the lockout last Wednesday.

SACCAWU national negotiator, Simphiwe Nikiwe, confirmed that the strike was over, but did not give any details as to what the final agreement between SACCAWU and Sun International is.

“We must still finalise the agreement with Sun International, but I can confirm that the agreement includes an improvement in the hours and rates of the food and beverage services personnel,” Nikiwe said.
