Big Walk this Sunday! Fun for young and old

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture will join the rest of the country in staging the fourth edition of the Big Walk to be held at the Polokwane Rugby Fields on Sunday, 4 October.

POLOKWANE – Partaking in sport and living a healthy lifestyle is said to be the key to longevity.
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture will join the rest of the country in staging the fourth edition of the Big Walk to be held at the Polokwane Rugby Fields on Sunday, 4 October. The main aim of the Big Walk is to encourage citizens to take part in sport, stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle. The walk is expected to start at 08:00 am.

According to Jermina Kaka, department of Sport, Arts and Culture, communications, marketing and publication, it will be a fun-filled day to encourage families, communities and athletes to actively participate in various sporting and recreational activities.

“We want to promote family togetherness, and active and healthy lifestyles. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to take part in the children’s corner.

The Big Walk is suitable for all, young or old,” explained Kaka.

She added the main aim of the programme is to encourage people to take up the habit of walking, and to engage in walking as a conscious choice in leisure-time activities.
