According to a post on Hero Burn Foundation Facebook page the doctors have found that his burn wounds are more extensive than they initially thought. The post reads as follows…
“The doctors shaved his hair to have a closer look… the thin skin of the scalp has swollen to 1.5cm due to intense heat”
“The doctors cannot do a brain scan to determine if there is any damage until the swelling has gone down.”
“Both hands were burned in the accident. The right hand has deeper burns… he will most probably get skin grafts on both.
“He has deep burn wounds on his forehead above his nose but doctors will make a decision about his face at a later stage.”
Jayden will go back in theatre on Saturday and then again on Monday reads the post.
Saturday 19 September
According to the post on Hero Burn Foundation’s Facebook page the brain scan results show no brain function. Doctors will carry out more tests on Sunday.

“Our brave little hero, Jayden da Costa, passed away at 10:10 this morning.”
“The funds that were raised are only able to keep him in hospital for a few days, we plead with the public, businesses and other institutions to open their hearts and help us keep Jayden in Muelmed Hospital for as long as possible,” says Jayden’s mother, Sibreena Da Costa.
All funds collected will be directly transferred into Muelmed’s account. Please note that there are two account numbers purely because the account held at Capitec does not cater for transfers from overseas.
