Reneilwe dreams of competing in the 2020 Commonwealth Games

Practice makes perfect, this is the mantra for Reneilwe Kganyago (15), a young athlete from the city.

POLOKWANE – A young athlete from the city, Reneilwe Kganyago (15), recently represented Limpopo at the Middelburg South Africa X-Country Championships.

She placed 82nd out of 101 athletes, but what makes Reneilwe’s recent athletic achievement so impressive is the fact that she recently received her Limpopo colours without the assistance of a coach, just by her own determination to be the best and her own hard work.

Reneilwe is not only a long distance runner, she also represents her school, Mitchell House, both on the soccer fields and the netball courts.

Next Reneilwe has her sights set on competing in the 2020 Commonwealth Games.

Review managed to catch up with this busy bee and asked her about her motivation and future goals, her training regime and her role models

“I love being active, I can’t just sit around and do nothing.” Which explains where she finds the energy to train four days a week in each of her sporting disciplines.

Reneilwe is working hard towards her dream of competing in the 2020 Commonwealth Games, this dream forms part of her dedication and determination to practice and stretch her limits every day.

She successfully juggles her school work and extra-mural activities which forms part of her recipe for success.

Reneilwe finds inspiration and motivation in the words of inspirational speaker, Nick Vujicic. Even though he has no arms or legs, he still finds a way to live an active life.

In her free time, Reneilwe enjoys reading, socialising and even more sport.

“Running for me has always been amazing and better than any other sport simply because there is nothing that holds you back, nothing that limits you. It does not matter how old or young you are, if you have a disability or if you are slow or fast, you can always enjoy running,” she explains.

Her advice to anyone interested to start running is: “Put in a lot of effort, stay committed and practice a lot, because practice makes perfect. My motto is: Your dreams in life aren’t just going to happen, you have to work hard and train hard to make you dreams come true.”
