Beggar gives up on his second chance

NATIONAL – Joseph Phukubje, a beggar who recently received a second chance at a better life, has returned to the streets, reports Citizen.
Phukubje made headlines when he caught the attention of Pamela Green, who made efforts to better his situation by posting his story on Facebook.
He stood at the traffic lights in Sandton with  his CV in hand, begging for a job. Within 24 hours of Green’s post, offers of assistance for Phukubje started to pour in, and he was offered a job within a week.
But on Friday, Green announced on Facebook, that Phukubje had returned to the streets.
“Joseph’s actions have lead him back to his previous life choice. He has left the home given to him, and he is once again homeless and unemployed. Our hearts are broken, and I sit here, still hoping that one day he will choose a healthier future for himself!” read part of her post.
