POLOKWANE – Besides getting to know the area you live in and getting to know the neighbours in your area, Northern Upper Town (NUT) also known as Sector 5, explained the benefits of joining the community policing forum CPF.

Benefits of joining your local CPF:

  • It’s free – there are no costs involved when joining the CPF.
  • Stay informed – residents have access to information to assist them in emergency situations and to know what to look for regarding warning signs and dangers in the community.
  • Know your fellow residents – it helps residents get to know their fellow residents and this means that assistance in an emergency is as close as having a neighbour.
  • Stay in touch with the latest incidents and successes in your area – during weekly meetings residents get the latest information on what is happening in their area.
  • Enjoy extra peace of mind – knowing that there are other people assisting with patrolling and looking out for the safety of the neighbourhood, means less worries.
  • Added security via radios and night patrols – patrol members and residents are communicating via radios and this makes getting assistance in any situation easy with just the press of a button.
  • Regular sector meetings for recent feedback of happenings in your area
  • Occasional sector outings – during outings, problems have been identified that contribute to safety issues in a community. Police also join the outings to assist in making the areas safe. CPF’s also arrange social gatherings that bring the community closer together.
  • Feeling of belonging – remember, you are not alone.
