Earth Hour 2015: annual lights-off event

Roundtable Zoutpansberg (66) and The Soutpansberg Astronomy Club invite one and all to Earth Hour 2015.

LOUIS TRICHARDT – Roundtable Zoutpansberg (66) and The Soutpansberg Astronomy Club invite one and all to Earth Hour 2015.

Earth Hour started in 2007, and is an annual lights-off event to raise awareness about climate change. It has grown to engage more than 162 countries worldwide, and we in Louis Trichardt have been involved in it since inception.

Bring your picnic basket and blanket/chairs and join us for an evening of stargazing, live unplugged music and a braai (fires supplied) on Saturday 28th March from 19:00 at the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club and Rondebosch Riding School Clubhouse, as we once again celebrate Earth Hour in Louis Trichardt.

Prior to Earth Hour which runs between 20:30 and 21:30, there will be a short presentation on our closest neighbour, the Moon, with views from the telescope projected on a big screen. During Earth Hour and after, local musicians will entertain us and play unplugged while the telescope will be pointed at the Moon, Jupiter and other deep sky objects.
