Rhino poachers arrested in Polokwane

Rhino poachers arrested in Polokwane on Thursday evening.

Acting on a tip off, the Limpopo Saps provincial anti-poaching task team, crime intelligence gathering unit and the Polokwane crime prevention unit arrested five suspected rhino poachers yesterday (Thursday) evening.   The five men who comprise of four South Africans and one Mozambiquen  were stopped by the police along the R81 Modjadjiskloof road and were subsequently escorted to Polokwane police station. The police found:  303 Assault Rifle, axe, rifle silencer, hack saw, torch, pick handle, live 303 ammunition, muti.

 The five who were driving a luxurious bakkie with Gauteng number plates were allegedly en-route to a farm in Roedtan.  They will appear in the Polokwane magistrate court sometimes next week on charges of possession of unlicensed fire arm and ammunitions including the possession of rhino killing and rhino horn poaching implements.
