POLOKWANE – A grey BMW which was mentioned during several of the hijackings taking place recently in Polokwane, was according to an eye-witness again involved in a hijacking that took place at Thornhill at around 12:45 this morning.
The BMW came from the slipway at Thornhill and blocked a car at the traffic intersection at the traffic light where Munnik crosses Veldspaat Street. The car was on the point of turning into Veldspaat Street towards the right when the grey BMW blocked it. The eyewitness came from the city’s direction. She saw four men in the BMW, three of which was armed. She heard two shots being fired during the hijacking.
“ I am not sure if they took two cars. It looked like it, but I was trying to get away from the scene as soon as I could. I just saw the people from the car or cars getting out of the car and heard two shots,” the shocked eyewitness said.
Talking to her shortly after the incident, she said she had not yet been to the police station.
A grey or silver grey BMW was also involved in a attempted hijacking about two weeks ago near Kierieklapper Street, a grey BMW was involved in a hijacking near Lebowakgomo Wednesday evening at 21:00 and also in a hijacking Thursday at the traffic light at the crossing of the service road of Landdros Maré Street in Industria and Potgieter Avenue.
• When contacting the spokesperson of the police shortly after the hijacking, he could not yet supply any information regarding the incident.
