Here’s how you can assist the TLC ward

Assist the Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) ward at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital with donations to assist children who receive treatment against cancer.

POLOKWANE- The number of people diagnosed with cancer increases almost daily, with many of these being children.

At the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital, there is a special ward for children who need treatment against cancer.

The Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) ward houses many children who come from the rural areas of the province, and in most cases, their parents are housed with them.

“Some patients are only in the ward for a day or two while receiving treatment. Their parents cannot afford to travel home and back and then rather stay with them,” says ward facilitator, Bobby Were.

The ward is often in need of assistance and depends on donations from the public.

The N.G. Kremetart Church, (previously N.G. Oos) and Johan Retters recently partnered with Were to raise money and items for the ward.

“We need over-the-counter medication such as Tasectan, Andolex mouthwash, Emla cream and Vaseline. Then we also need nutritious food like Future Life Porridge, tins or sachet soups, yoghurt, jelly, sugar, pickled veggies and Sunlight soap for bathing and washing. We would also like to treat the patients with sweets.”

If you would like to assist, contact Were on 076 154 2008, Johan on 072 116 9396 or the church on 015 295 8849.

Cash is also welcome as Were says this is used to buy necessary items.
