Water supply in Polokwane to be affected by 24-hour shutdown

The two phase stoppage will occur on May 17 and July 12 and all areas within the Polokwane Municipality will be affected.

POLOKWANE – Water supply to all areas within the Polokwane Municipality will be affected by a planned shutdown at both the Olifantspoort and Ebenezer schemes.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said Lepelle Northern Water will conduct the shutdown which will occur at both schemes for two, 24-hour stoppages and one six hour stoppage respectively.

The Olifanstpoort shutdown is to replace “critical valves on the Specon pipeline” and will occur on the following dates:

Tuesday, May 17 and Tuesday, July 12 from 06:00. 

The Ebenezer shutdown is to repair the leaking main pipeline and will occur on Tuesday, June 7 from 06:00 to 12:00.

“The municipality will provide temporary relief through water tankers on those days until Lepelle Northern Water completes its work and restores water supply to the Polokwane Municipality.
All customers are urged to use water sparingly and report promptly water related challenges to Water and Sanitation helpline so that the municipality can come to the aid of those affected,” he said.
