Missing women: Local man confesses to killings

A man from Seshego reportedly confessed to seven incidents and pointed out the locations where he dumped the bodies of his victims.

POLOKWANE – The Seshego Community against Crime and Gangsterism organisation is pleading with the community to rally with them during the court appearance of a Zimbabwean national on November 15.

The man is thought to be responsible for several people who went missing from the area, and was apprehended by the organisation and handed over to the Seshego police on October 29 following up on a tip-off.

Chairperson Vincent Kunutu says they were shocked to find bloodied clothing, which seemingly belonged to some of the victims, in a rented room in Seshego.

“The suspect was handed over to the police and we were informed that he confessed to killing several women from our community. These are our sisters he is taking from us, and it is time that we stand together and refuse him to be allowed back into the community.”

According to Kunutu, the man is said to have shown the police the locations of where his victims’ bodies were dumped. “Some of the bodies found were in a decomposed state and will have to go for forensic testing to determine their identities. We are thankful to the police for the work they have done and will be giving them the space they need to conclude their investigation.”

The organisation has set aside November 13 as a day of mourning for the victims.

“Details will be made available on our social media pages by Friday but we would like people to avail themselves between 17:00 and 19:00 in the parking lot of the Seshego Stadium.”

The invitation, he says, is open to all stakeholders in the community such as the taxi association, business people, students, unions, churches, NPOs, sports teams and the general public.

The suspect, who has been charged with seven counts of murder, will appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on November 15 for formal bail application.
