POLOKWANE – A woman died on the scene of a 2-vehicle crash along the R71 on Monday morning (August 16).

The media liaison officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Mike Maringa, said the incident involved two sedans and happened approximately 12km outside Polokwane at around 07:00.

“A 26-year-old female passenger died after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speed, drove into the back of another vehicle and overturned,” he said.

The injured people were transported to a nearby hospital for further care, Meiring added.

Maringa added that speeding and negligent driving has been cited as the possible cause of the incident.
