[VIDEO] All aboard Leeto la Polokwane with Review

Experience the process and ride with Polokwane Review.

POLOKWANE – Leeto la Polokwane claims to be a safe, reliable and convenient integrated public transport system for all of Polokwane’s citizens, but is it?

Polokwane Review had the opportunity to find out earlier today, as we hopped on board one of the eight buses currently used as part of the system’s dry run.

Also on board was Polokwane Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, kgosi’s and other delegates.

After the familiar spray of hand sanitiser, we were off!

When the system is in full force, residents will make use of a Leeto Travel Card as the system is a cashless one. Simply climb (or roll on board as the buses are wheelchair-friendly) and enjoy the commute.

There are priority seats which are reserved for wheelchair users, passengers with small children and luggage, physically challenged passengers and pregnant women, among others.

Phase 1A of the system sees three routes; Seshego, Westenburg and Flora Park, in operation. The bus fares are R10, R6 and R6 respectively.

The dedicated bus lane for Leeto buses are initially only found on the Seshego route according to Systems, Planning and Operations Manager, Thembeka Monti.

According to the Director of Roads and Transportation, Malose Lamola, they estimate that the routes will be fully operational within six weeks, however, the exact date is yet to be announced.
