#JusticeForThorisho: Fourth witness takes to the stand

The case is set to resume tomorrow.

POLOKWANE – On day three of the Thorisho Themane murder trial, a fourth witness testified and explained his involvement in the incident on 23 February 2019. He implicated all the accused.

Today in court, the witness continued his testimony and a video was handed over by the state to the court as evidence.

Malabi-Dzhangi earlier explained that eleven people were charged with the murder of 27-year-old Thorisho Themane. “Two of the accused are adults, while the other nine were minors at the time. One of the minors passed away before the matter was moved to the high court,” she explained.

Three of the remaining minors have since turned state witness, she added.

The trial will resume on Friday and witness number five will take the stand.

POLOKWANE – Two more witnesses testified in the Thorisho Themane murder trial today.

Accused two, a 20-year-old man, and accused three, a 21-year-old man, explained their involvement in the events of 23 February 2019.

The case will resume in the Polokwane High Court, tomorrow.

POLOKWANE – The murder trial of Flora Park resident, Thorisho Themane began in the Polokwane High Court today, following multiple postponements.

According to the Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the first state witness (16) was called to the stand.

The witness told the court how he was involved in the beating of Themane and implicated all other accused.

Themane was murdered on 23 February 2019, allegedly by learners from a local school.

Eleven people were charged with Themane’s murder. “Two of the accused are adults, while the other nine were minors at the time. One of the minors passed away before the matter was moved to the high court,” she explained.

Malabi-Dzhangi said three of the remaining minors have since turned state witness. “Three minors will now be tried as adults, because they have turned of age,” she added.

The case is set to continue tomorrow when lawyers are expected to start with cross-examination.
