‘Less is more’ in Muni’s water supply management exercise

The Polokwane Municipality says water-shedding will be implemented three days per week for a period of 12 hours each day.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality’s Spokesperson, Thipa Selala, says they have implemented a water supply management operation to help push supply to higher lying areas in the city.

“In dealing with water shortages in higher lying areas of Flora Park and Serala View, the municipality has implemented the operation to ensure that high lying areas do not continuously experience shortages of water, as it has been the case for a long period,” he explained.

Selala said they believe this exercise will bring relief to the affected areas and announced that the operation will be implemented weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 16:00 and 04:00.

“The exercise was tried in the past few days through management of water systems on the line supplying to the CBD, and has yielded positive results,” he added.

Selala appealed to users in the CBD, Nirvana and Ivy Park to cooperate as this exercise will limit the flow of water to their areas on the scheduled days.

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of all during this difficult period of water scarcity and urge all to continue using water sparingly,” he concluded.
