Lebowakgomo traffic officer accosted and robbed of service pistol

The man and his friends was standing in his garage at his home when they were accosted by a group of armed suspects.

LIMPOPO – The police is appealing to the public for help in identifying a group of armed suspects who robbed a traffic officer of his service pistol on Saturday, 14 November.

The incident happened at the officers house in Lebowakgomo Zone P and according to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe the group of suspects stormed the complainant and his friends while they were in a garage.

“The armed men stormed inside and instructed everyone to lie down. In the process, the traffic officer was searched and robbed of his service pistol with ammunition and an undisclosed amount of money. Inside the house the suspects opened the safe and took more money as well as another firearm and two magazines with ammunition. The suspects fled the scene in a red Citroën which belongs to one of the complainant’s friends.”

The police were immediately notified, and the stolen motor vehicle, was later found abandoned around Lebowakgomo, Ngoepe added.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of these suspects is urged to contact Lt Col Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or Det WO Makgoba at 072 570 5095. Alternatively they can also contact the police via the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations into this matter are still ongoing.
