Pair accused of the murder of Gr 12 learner, granted R5 000 bail each

The duo were arrested following an altercation outside a tavern, where a 21-year-old learner was killed and his father run over by a motor vehicle.

25 November

LIMPOPO – Two men, charged with the murder of Gr 12 learner from Tielelo High School, were grated R5 000 bail by the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court.

The men were arrested on charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH). This after a incident where a 21-year-old learner was killed and his father run over by a motor vehicle.

The duo are expected to re-appear on 18 December.


17 November

LIMPOPO – The two 29-year-old men appeared in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court and were not granted bail, according to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe. He said their cases were postponed to 25 November for bail application and further police investigations.


12 November

LIMPOPO – The Lephalale Magistrate’s Court  on Wednesday, 11 November, once again denied bail to the two accused in the murder of a Gr 12 learner from Tielelo High School.

The duo, both aged 29-year-old, were arrested last week following an altercation outside a local tavern near Lephalale, where a 21-year-old learner was killed and his father run over by a motor vehicle. They face charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

According to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe the court postponed their case to 17 November for further police investigation, where they will again apply for bail.


10 November

LIMPOPO – The Lephalale Magistrate’s Court  on Monday, 9 November, denied bail to two men who were arrested last week in connection with the murder of a Gr 12 learner from Tielelo High School.

The duo, both aged 29-year-old, were arrested following an altercation outside a local tavern near Lephalale, where a 21-year-old learner was killed and his father run over by a motor vehicle. They face charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The accused are expected to re-appear in the same court on Wednesday, 11 November for formal bail applications.


6 November

LIMPOPO – Two, 29-year-old men, will appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 November, facing charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The men were arrested following an altercation outside a local tavern in the Marapong location, outside Lephalale, on Thursday night.

“The suspects allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old, Gr 12 learner from Tielelo High School. It is alleged that the deceased was walking with his cousin when he was confronted by the suspects, who accused him of stealing a cellphone,” reads a statement by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Reports suggest that the learner’s cousin was hit with a hard object after a fight broke out.

“He ran away and left the deceased behind. They continued to attack the learner and stabbed him with a sharp instrument throughout his body. He attempted to run home, which was not far from the scene, but succumbed to his injuries on arrival,” Ngoepe explained.

The boy’s father went to investigate, but the attackers ran him over with a motor vehicle, according to Ngoepe.

“The suspects fled the scene, but were traced and arrested within a short space of time. Police investigations are still continuing,” he concluded.
