Mokopane remembers Ralph Kanyane and Vaaltyn Kekana

The group placed flowers and lit candles opposite the taxi rank where ANC members were gunned down

MOKOPANE – Members of the Mokopane Task Team (MTT), Mogalakwena Concerned and Affected Communities (MCAC) together with the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) gather this morning at the Sasol filling station in Thabo Mbeki Drive to embark on a memorial service for the two late ANC members that was shot and killed on 23 July last year.

The group marched down in Pretorius Street where they placed flowers and lit candles opposite the taxi rank where the shooting of Ralph Kanyane (32) and Vaaltyn Kekana (54) took place.

Kekana was an ANC Councillor and the chairperson of Mogalakwena Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and Kanyane was ward 10’s branch secretary.

They two men were gunned down while in their vehicle. Both died on the scene and the suspect fled on foot.

It is believed the men wanted to expose the alleged municipal corruption.
