Driver caught with illegal cigarettes, liquor
The driver of a sedan has been arrested after he was chased down by provincial traffic officials.
LIMPOPO – The driver of a sedan was earlier arrested by Limpopo traffic officers, with the help of police in Sebayeng and Polokwane.
According to a statement by Transport and Community Safety Spokesperson, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the man was arrested for transporting illicit cigarettes and alcohol.
“The driver was pursued from Botlokwa and he took a dusty escape route into Solomondale. The provincial traffic officers requested backup and the Sebayeng police officers closed up the road next to a nearby garage, where the suspect was caught,” the statement reads.
Moremi-Taueatsoala adds that the man was travelling with a woman and child.

“The woman is heard on a video saying that she is from Zimbabwe and stayed in Musina for a few days and that she is on her way to Johannesburg,” Moremi-Taueatsoala says.
The cigarettes and alcohol were confiscated.
