Talent, not a spell says Limpopo boxer

'Ali Funeka's corner is spreading muti allegations because they are in denial' Limpopo boxer, Tsiko Mulovhedzi. This after Mulovhedzi beat Funeka last Friday.

LIMPOPO – LIMPOPO boxer, Tsiko Mulovhedzi says the talkative Ali Funeka’s corner is spreading muti allegations because they are in denial after he beat Funeka during the IBF Welterweight Championship in East London last Friday.

Mulovhedzi said Funeka was talkative before the fight and tried to make him the laughing stock of the ring.

“Funeka told the people he wanted to knock me down before the sixth round. I spent three months training hard in my preparation for the fight. Before we entered the ring, I told him that the title was going to Limpopo. I outclassed him from the onset until I knocked him out in the fifth round,” Mulovhedzi said.

“My trainer, Charles Mabunda, advised me not to rush in the ring. He also called me ‘new champion’ and those words reinforced my strength and I knocked Funeka out.

“But now Funeka and his corner are raising a very sensitive issue; that I cast a spell. He is in denial that he lost fair and square,” he said.

“I fought in front of my family, everyone was there except my father as he is already 103 years old, but I am proud of my father for supporting me and he also gave me advice me before the fight,” he said.

“In professional boxing, I fought 24 fights: three were draws, six were losses and I won the rest. I knocked down Carl Smith in 2012 in the Welterweight at Muserec when I defended my titles and he resigned.

“I’m now rated number 13 in the world,” Mulovhedzi said.

“People call me ‘Cruel Junior’ because my father’s nickname was ‘Cruel’ during his boxing days when he was a musangwe (bare-knuckle combat) champion.

“I also fought musangwe when I was still young until I turned professional in 2005. I never lost a musangwe fight, and more in my professional boxing career is to come,”Mulovhedzi promised.

Funeka’s trainer, Dokes Sikonyela, allegedly claimed that some people in Mulovhedzi’s camp were allegedly seen with suspicious muti objects before the fight.

The muti spell on Funeka caused his eyes to glaze over every time Funeka returned to the corner after each round, Sikonyeli said. “I have never seen Ali looking like that.”
