Limpopo: new visiting hours for state hospitals
With South Africa's confirmed COVID-19 cases increasing daily, the department will adjust their protocol for visiting state hospitals
LIMPOPO – The Department of Health has deemed it fit to adjust hospital visiting protocol to help curb the transmission of corono virus (COVID-19). On Sunday President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Covid-19 as a national disaster and outlined measures to be put in place to limit the spread of the virus.
With South Africa’s confirmed COVID-19 cases increasing daily, the department will adjust their protocol for visiting state hospitals, says Thilivhali Muavha, MEC’s Spokesperson
• Visiting hours will be between 12:00 – 13:00
• A maximum of two visitors per day per patient
• One visitor will be allowed at the bedside at a time
• A visitor can only spend 15 minutes with a patient
These measures will be put in place as from Thursday, 19 March. Any other visits outside the prescribed period will be authorised by the attending doctor and prior arrangements should be made, says Muavha.
These measures will be in place until further notice.
