Six die in bus accident in Limpopo

The passengers who survived were taken to hospitals in Kgapane, Mankweng and Polokwane.

LIMPOPO – Five passengers and a driver were killed in a bus accident on the R81 road next to Ga-Sekgopo this morning.

It is believed that the bus driver lost control over the vehicle which then rolled over.

According to reports, the bus was transporting members and supporters to the ANC’s 108th anniversary celebrations which took place at Mohlabaneng village in Bolobedu.

The passengers who survived were taken to hospitals in Kgapane, Mankweng and Polokwane.

The Transport and Community Safety MEC, Dickson Masemola paid the survivors at Kgapane hospital a visit and wished them a speedy recovery.

Masemola has sent his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones. He also extended his words of comfort to the ANC as the tragedy occurred to the party’s members and supporters.

Police Spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo said a team of police officers together with local leaders have been dispatched to inform the families of their unfortunate loss.

“We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and a speedy recovery to the survivors. It’s is a very sad and tragic accident and we urge everyone to support families of the victims and the the survivors as well,” Masemola.

Meanwhile, Social Development MEC, Nkakareng Rakgoale has also send her condolences to the families.

According to Social Development Spokesperson, Witness Tiva, social workers have been dispatched to provide psychosocial support to the survivors, bereaved families and other affected parties.
