Couple robbed of cash in Polokwane shopping mall parking lot

The police have warned residents not to carry large amounts of money on their person after a husband and wife were robbed at gunpoint of a substantial amount on Saturday morning.

POLOKWANE – The robbery happened in the parking lot of Savannah Mall at around 10:00.

According to Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo the couple had earlier withdrawn the money at a bank in the mall. They were robbed soon afterwards in the parking area. Once at the vehicle, they were accosted by two armed men. During the incident, shots were fired and the robbers broke the driver’s side window and took the money as well as the woman’s handbag.

No injuries were reported and the police are investigating a case of armed robbery. They police appeal to anyone with information that can lead to arrest of the persons involved, to contact Const Maake at 0798979033.

Comment could not immediately be sourced from the mall’s management. An update will be given as soon as it becomes available.
