Learners band together and say Enough is Enough!

POLOKWANE – Enough is Enough is a movement that wants to create a safer South Africa, help young women through trauma and teach young boys that it is okay to cry when you are hurt and to show your feelings.

The movement is lead by Boitumelo Mphahlele, a learner from Tom Naudé Technical High School, and Garaepha Masegela, a learner from PEPPS.

They held an event on Saturday, 14 September at Tom Naudé’s where the public could participate. Their main aim is to create awareness amongst the younger generation, especially young men, to see women not as objects but as human beings.

Boitumelo Mphahlele (from Tom Naudé) and Garaepha Masegela (PEPPS learner) says enough is enough.

Thato Simbawani is a radio presenter on Motionsense HD and a gender activist. She motivated the audience to speak out about their experiences and educated them about rape and domestic- and gender violence.

She said that if we wait for the government to do something about this issue, it will not happen, and that we should rather stand up so that the government can hear our story.

The event ended when the attendees went to the rugby field and lit candles to honour women and children who were raped and killed.
