#MokopaneShutdown: ‘We will use force’ – Police

Protesters were informed by police this morning that the shutdown march could not go ahead as planned.

MOKPANE – The group gathered in front of Frontline Hyper in Nelson Mandela Drive at 08:30 planning to march to the municipality at 11:00 as agreed to in the Section 4 meeting held earlier this week.

Permission was granted to the Mogalakwena Concerned and Affected Citizens (MCAC), South African Civic Organisation (Sanco) and Mokopane Task Team (MTT) for a peaceful march on Thursday and Friday from 11:00 until 15:00.

The police have reportedly threatened to use force and blocked the road. A few minutes later they used rubbed bullets and tear gas to disperse the crowd.
