[WATCH] Thohoyandou gang nabbed for robbing cash loan company

A woman was arrested for possession of an unlicenced R5 rifle which then led to the arrest of three more suspects, including her husband.

LIMPOPO – A 25-year-old woman, her husband and two other men were arrested on Monday, 2 September following a multi-disciplinary operation by police in Thohoyandou.

This, after the heavily armed foursome, robbed a cash loan company in the CBD before fleeing the scene.

Once police were informed, a manhunt ensued that a woman was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed R5 rifle. The woman’s husband was then arrested and found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the stolen money.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the operation continued until Tuesday evening, 3 September when two more men were arrested at a village, outside Thohoyandou. These men were positively linked to the robbery.

‘The foursome was linked to 15 cases of business robbery in the past three months. During the arrest, three motor vehicles, an R5 rifle, a magazine, ammunition and cash were recovered,” he added.

Preliminary police investigations have further revealed that the foursome may be linked to a series of business robberies in the Thohoyandou, Giyani, Musina, Malamulele and the Makhado Clusters.

“The suspects will appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court, soon,” his statement concluded.
