Lebowakgomo Police launch search for missing mentally disabled mother and her one-year-old son

The mother and son from Mogodi Village in ga-Mphahlele, have been missing since Monday, 12 August.

LIMPOPO – The police in Lebowakgomo have launched a search operation and appealed to the community to help find Khomotjo Molahlegi Kgopa (20) and her one-year old son, who was last seen at Lebowakgomo Hospital.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Constable Maphure Manamela said that on the day of their disappearance Kgopa and her son visited the Lebowakgomo Hospital together with her mother. It is alleged that upon leaving the hospital premises, her mother realised she had forgotten something and went back inside leaving her daughter and grandchild at the gate .When she returned, both were gone. The grandmother, with the assistance of the security guards, searched for them in and around the hospital without success, Manamela added.

Kgopa is reportedly mentally disabled and was wearing a red doek, maroon jersey, a checked skirt and black shoes. The toddler was wearing a sky blue hat, striped T-shirt, dark brown trousers and black shoes.

The police are appealing to anyone with information about their whereabouts to urgently contact the Investigating officer, Warrant Officer Leolo at 0840399671. Alternatively contact the 24-hour crime stop number at  0860010111 or the nearest police station.
