#Maphalle24: MEC urges local learners to do well in school in honour of their fallen friends
The memorial service for the 24 youths who died in a tragic accident along the R81 road on Youth Day, 16 June took place at the Ga-Rapitsi Sport Ground in Greater Letaba Municipality, Mopani District on Thursday.
LIMPOPO – The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Dickson Dickson Masemola on behalf of the government, offered condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and said that huge developmental strides must be made in the honor of these young people who perished on such a historic day.

At least 24 people between the ages of 13 and 27, died after the Quantum they were travelling in collided head-on with a bus along the R81 road between Mooketsi and Giyani on Sunday night, 16 June. 19 of the 24 were learners at high schools within the Bolobedu cluster with the majority coming from Ga-Rapitsi village.
During his address he urged local learners to honour their friends who passed away by working hard at school. “Continue to do better at school and in life as that will make them proud…”
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22 at the Ga-Rapitsi Sports Grounds at 07:00.
