Foskor Mine security guard trampled to death by an elephant

45-year-old, Eric Kgatla was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning, 8 June and died instantly

LIMPOPO – Police in Limpopo are investigating the death of a 45-year-old security guard who was attacked and killed by an elephant in the Phalaborwa policing area.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo reports that the man was on duty at the Foskor Mine in Phalaborwa in the early hours of Saturday morning, 8 June, when an elephant attacked and trampled him, killing him instantly.

“The man was certified dead on the scene after police and emergency services were summoned. The deceased was identified as Eric Kgatla, originally from Bolobedu,” Mojapelo stated.

He added that police investigations into the circumstances of this incident are already underway.
