In a statement released, municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala says the planned maintenance is to allow for the replacement of asbestos cement (AC) pipes with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) on the corner of Grobler Street and Munnik Avenue.

“The CBD will be affected and areas such as Nirvana, Rainbow Park and Westenburg may experience low pressure,” he said.

Selala added that the affected areas will be restored as soon as the contractor finishes with the work.

“The municipality will deploy water tankers to affected areas as a temporary relief measure and the Municipality is urging all to use water sparingly,” Selala’s statement concluded.
