Bicycle will assist Limpopo village in their crime fighting efforts

Village Lufule 2 outside Thohoyandou recently, through the kind-heartedness of a Good Samaritan, received a bicycle with which regular patrols can be done.

LIMPOPO – Reports of burglary and housebreaking have been rife, but now, members of the civic association will be in a better position to deal with the incidents thanks to the donation.

A businessman, Hangwani Matumba said he used to receive messages that crime was rife in the village.

“We also heard that because of a lack of transport, people cannot call community meetings and funeral notices. We cannot sit on the sidelines as businesspeople when there is something we can do to change this,” said Matumba.

He donated a bicycle to be used for patrolling in crime fighting, calling community meetings, funeral notices and to also help elderly people getting to their homes.

The handover of the bicycle to the community of Lufule2 was held last Sunday at a function held at Lufule Primary School.

The Chairperson of Lufule 2 Civic Association, Mashudu Likhavha said they are thankful for the donation. “We hope that the crime rate will be reduced in our village.”

A headman in Lufule 2 village, Vhakoma Thifhelimbilu Ravhutsi said the bicycle will help the communities in delivering services. He urged members of the civic association to use the bicycle for the purpose it was intended for.
