Woman’s dismembered remains found along the Burgersfort road, Pakistani nationals arrested

Two Pakistani nationals were arrested on Thursday, 7 February after a 36-year-old woman's dismembered remains were found on the Burgersfort - Lydenburg road.

LIMPOPO – Two Pakistani nationals were arrested on Thursday, 7 February for the kidnapping and murder of 36-year-old, Precious Mohlale Magagane.

Magagane, from ga-Mahlakwane village in the Burgersfort Cluster, went missing 23 December 2018.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the two men were arrested following an intensive crime intelligence-driven operation that was conducted soon after details of their alleged involvement in her disappearance emerged.

“The sterling detective work by our operatives led to the discovery of the remains believed to be that of the deceased. The dismembered remains were found disposed of at different locations in the area along the Burgersfort – Lydenburg road. They will be taken to the forensic department for DNA investigations,” Mojapelo explained.

Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, ammunition and a motor vehicle during the arrest. A cellphone belonging to the deceased was also recovered from the seized vehicle.

“The motive for this gruesome murder in unknown at this stage.”

Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended all members involved in solving the case and went further to thank the community for providing valuable information.

The suspects appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.

“Both suspects were remanded in custody until 15 February 2019 for further police investigations,” Mojapelo concluded.
