Kutullo is living his gospel dream

Havng started from the bottom as a back up vocalist singer, Kutullo Kubu (22) from Mohodi, Ga Manthata in Bochum, is now an established gospel artist who released his first solo album (Holokile Ntate) in 2017.

POLOKWANE – “The journey was tough and challenging but worth every step. I was afforded an opportunity to learn from other established and experienced gospel artists. I also drew inspiration from other people’s work, to spark my own creativity as an artist so that I too can be unique as an artist,” he explained.

Kutullo’s style of music is Sion gospel and was influenced by male choirs. He was part of an all male choir which is where he says he learned how to work with his unique voice to make beautiful music. Other choirs that he was acquainted with include Diphala tsa Gauta, Dikakapa tsa Mmino, University of Limpopo SF male choir, Mohodi Finest Boys and Excellent Boys.

“I was also featured in Zion Afrika, which hosted its first show on the 24 November 2018 at the State Theatre in Pretoria and I performed live for the first time. I was nervous and excited and it was definitely a highlight of my career,” he added.

His music video for his title track Holokile Ntate is currently being aired on various gospel channels on TV and brags a whopping 36 000+ views on YouTube since it was uploaded, 6 months ago.

His music is inspired by situations he has faced. Through his music, Kutullo says he wants people to know that God has a plan with their lives and shall not forsake them and encourage them to never give up.
