Register to take part in the 20th Danone Nations Cup

As Danone celebrate its 100th birthday, they continue to make the dreams of young aspiring u/12 soccer enthusiasts come true through the 2019 Danone Nations Cup soccer tournament.

POLOKWANE – This year will be the 20th edition of the tournament and primary schools will register and enter their teams not only to raise their school flag but also to help harness the skills and talents and aspirations of playing soccer that these young boys may have.

“It’s a privilege for Danone to be involved in this prestigious tournament,” said Chantel Ehlers, Internal Communications Manager, Danone Southern Africa.

“Over the past 20 years the tournament has inspired millions of youngsters around the world to believe in their dreams and develop healthy eating habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

“As 2019 coincides with our centenary year, we have decided to host a spectacular double final in the place where it all began, Barcelona. We are using this milestone and the power of football to make a strong connection to our ‘One Planet. One Health’ brand platform,” she added.

Nomlinganiselo Primary School from the Western Cape were the winners last year, and they will be competing against 18 other nations for the 2018 World Title.

“The young dreamers who will attend the world finals will have a unique experience. South African teams have always made a lasting impression at the world finals with their colourful singing and dancing as well as their keen drive to embrace the new experience and make as many friends as possible and we expect the 2018 and 2019 teams to continue this trend,” said Ehlers.

Registrations and games are processed and managed by South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa) at all levels.

Games will kick off at cluster level in March culminating in the national final to be held, at a venue to be decided, in June or July. The World Finals are expected to take place in early October (dates to be confirmed).

Ethers said that Danone prioritises health and nutrition which is why they ensure that they provide food for those who are living in poverty stricken areas.

And seeing that in order for one to achieve a healthy lifestyle goals, exercises must be incorporated is why they have invested in soccer, as it is the biggest most popular sport in the country to ensure that such health goals are achieved.
