Residents warned of more water shortages as city’s reservoirs are at 0%

The municipality says the city's water supply is under serious strain.

POLOKWANE – The Municipality says they will continue to deploy water tankers to all affected areas following continuous disruptions of  water supply from both Lepelle Northern Water plants over the past two weeks.

According to Matshidiso Mothapo, Communications Manager at the Municipality, the Ebenezer Plant experienced disruptions in electricity several times this week whilst the Olifantspoort Plant experienced several shut offs due to high level of mud in the water following heavy rains and vandalism of infrastructure.

“Currently, most of the reservoirs in the city are at 0% and all areas of supply are affected. Both plants, however, are now reported to be in operation and running at full capacity,” he explained.

Areas receiving water are urged to use the water sparingly as the water supply is under serious strain.
