Suspect (27) allegedly dismembers man, leaves him to die outside Lebowakgomo village

The suspect was arrested after the alleged severed parts were found in a washing basket at his house

LIMPOPO – The Police in Magatle outside Lebowakgomo have arrested a 27-year-old suspect for allegedly dismembering a male victim of his private parts. The incident happened at Bolahlakgomo village at around 03:00 this morning (Sunday, 30 December).

A passerby immediately found the 55-year-old victim , naked, bleeding an in agonizing pain. He also suffered multiple stab wounds and by the time the police arrived on the scene, the victim had already been admitted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition,” said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Preliminary investigations led the police to the suspect’s house at Bolahlakgomo where the alleged severed private parts were found placed in a washing basket. A manhunt was immediately launched for the suspect and within hours he was arrested while attending a wedding ceremony at Bolahlakgomo.

Forensic investigations will still be conducted to determine if the private parts belong to the victim, said Ngoepe.

 

The suspect, who is also an ex-convict for murder and malicious damage to property, will appear in Thabamoopo Magistrate Court on Monday on a charge of attempted Murder. The motive for this brutal attack is unknown at this stage and Police investigations are continuing.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended the members for the swift response and subsequent arrest of the culprit.
