Deputy Director of Kutama Senthumule Correctional Center arrested for fraud and corruption

The correctional center has suffered a loss of over R300 000 due to the 54-year-old man's actions

LIMPOPO – A 54-year-old Deputy Director stationed at Kutama Senthumule Correctional Center was arrested in Thohoyandou today for alleged fraud and corruption, says provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke.

This was during a sting operation to address corruption in the province.

Maluleke says the suspect, who is responsible for procurement at the correctional center, allegedly colluded with a service provider to exorbitantly over price goods in return of gratification.

“The correctional center has suffered a loss of over R300 000. His accomplice, who owns a clothing company in Polokwane was also arrested this morning,” Maluleke explained.

Both suspects were summoned to appear before Makhado Magistrate Court on 11 December 2018.
