LIMPOPO – Police in Limpopo say they are still hitting hard on criminal syndicates in all the clusters of the province, including ports of entry.

This became evident when a joint search operation was conducted on Saturday, 4 August at the Beitbridge Port of Entry, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
“A truck was stopped at the SARS scanner for scanning purposes. Upon scanning, a suspicious image inside the trailor horse of the truck was identified and750 blasting cartridge explosives, three rolls of explosive cables were recovered. The estimated street value is around R300 000,” he said.
Three suspects between the ages of 36 and 45-years-old were arrested for possession of explosives and will appear before the Musina Magistrates Court soon.
Ngoepe says the origin and destination of these explosives are still being determined.
Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has welcomed this great achievement and has encouraged all members of the police to double their efforts in dealing with this crime category head-on.
