Female only platoons to be dispatched this month, says Transport Dept
Female traffic officers in Limpopo have decided to celebrate Women's month by making the province's roads a safer place
POLOKWANE – According to the spokesperson for the department of transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, as from 3 August, only female platoons will be dispatched across the province as a way of celebrating Women’s Month.
Moremi-Taueatsoala says the women led operation, in conjunction with municipal officers and members of SAPS, will continue throughout the month of August. This will include inter-provincial operations with neighbouring provinces Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North West.
During Operation Ndadzi on Friday, 3 August, six people were arrested for drunk driving and three drivers were found in posession of illegal substances and foreign drivers licences.

In addition, four mini buses were impounded and a total of R23 000 was paid to release them. The total amount of spot dines collected for warrants of arrest equated to R7 600.
The MEC of Transport and Community Safety, Makoma Makhurupetje, has expressed her appreciation on the sterling work done by the ladies in uniform and has indicated her intentions to join them in one of their many operations during the month of August.
“Our ladies in uniform must continue to carry out their duties on the road with diligence, without fear or favour,” she said.
