Seshego: Man arrested for stabbing his girlfriend and setting her house on fire

The 26-year-old suspect will face charges of attempted murder and arson

POLOKWANE – Joint operations led by the Seshego Commander, Major General Sam Mokgonyana and a team of various police units led to the recent arrest of a number of suspects for contact and trio crimes.

In the Seshego and Matlala policing precincts, two suspects were arrested for numerous business robberies they allegedly committed around Moletjie and Matlala and later led police to a house where stolen properties were sold.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects were positively linked to 14 cases of business robbery in the Seshego policing area.

“While this operation was unfolding, police arrested a 26-year-old man for attempted murder and arson in the Kwena Moloto area, outside Seshego,” Ngoepe added.

The victim (43) was at home when the suspect knocked at her door and asked for access into the home in order to resolve their relationship problem.

“After opening the door, the suspect attacked the victim with a knife and stabbed her several times. He then set the house on fire and fled from the scene,” Ngoepe explained.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrates Court soon.

Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has applauded the Cluster Commander of Seshego, Major General Mokgonyana and his team for the job well done.
