Gospel artist heals the nation with his music

Local gospel artist, Musa Mhlongo, better known by his fans as Khana, received a gospel nomination at the King Korn Limpopo Music (LIMA) Awards.

POLOKWANE – With two full length albums already to his credit, Khana has earned a reputation as one of the crafty producers and artist with two feet firmly planted in the gospel music circle.

The 33-year-old has been making waves with his album Good News which he released in 2016. One of the songs, Qhawe la maqhawe, has been nominated at the second annual Limpopo Music Awards 2018 in the best traditional gospel album category.

Khana says he is not surprised he got the nomination since he has worked so hard in making the album what it is today. One of his songs has also been playlisted on the SABC 1 Koze Kuse and Munghana Lonene FM.

This multi-talented vocalist has not forgotten where he comes from, he is also a motivational speaker who is occasionally seen in various schools addressing critical issues affecting our young people and he goes around honouring performance invitations in and around South Africa.

Life wasn’t always easy for Khana who grew up without his father but he promised himself he is going to get married then support and protect his family. His mother was the breadwinner in the family and this inspired the father of one to set an example for his son.

He added the album, Good News, was also nominated for the Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingoma) in the best worship and album of the year categories. “The music is from my heart, I am singing for the next person. The world must watch out because we are here to make a difference, in the community and the gospel industry,” he said.

Boitshepo Metane, Khana’s Publicist, said: “Getting nominated for this award and being recognised will boost Khana’s confidence to continue writing music that will heal and entertain everyone. We really appreciate the Limpopo Music Awards for recognising our artist and the talent our country has. This is a 15-track album and simple African worship album. Khana’s music if for everyone, young and old. He sings in different languages but mostly in his mother tongue, Tsonga”.
